Pharmacies and Naloxone Access

Granville Vance Public Health works to ensure that individuals at risk of overdosing on opioids are able to access naloxone – a non-addictive drug that reverses an opiate overdose by binding with opioid receptor in the brain and reversing the depression of the central nervous and respiratory systems.  In addition to directly prescribing and providing naloxone through our clinics in Oxford and Henderson, GVPH also works with local pharmacies ensure individuals who need naloxone can get it through a state standing order.

Local pharmacies that stock naloxone include:

  • Medical Arts Pharmacy
253 Ruin Creek Road, Henderson, NC 27536
  • Professional Pharmacy
140 Roxboro Rd., Oxford, NC 27565

Prescription Drug Take Back Services

Granville Vance Public Health promotes prescription drug take back programs in order to provide safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing prescription drugs, while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications that are no longer needed for their originally prescribed purpose.

Granville Vance Public Health in partnership with Medical Arts Pharmacy and Cardinal Innovations will be hosting a Prescription Drug Take Back Event on November 30th, 10-2pm at Medical Arts Pharmacy. For more information click HERE.
