The Granville Vance Innovative Approaches Initiative was recognized with a GlaxoSmithKline Child Health Award in the Local Health Department recognition category at the 2018 NCPHA Conference in Charlotte!  The project honored with this award is “A Novel Approach to Learn the Signs. Act Early (LTSAE),” which is a partnership to increase parent-engaged developmental monitoring by promoting the adoption and integration of LTSAE materials into library story time programming and library outreach services to child care centers.  This project aligns with Innovative Approaches Goal: 4 All children will be screened early and continuously for special health care needs.  Congratulations to the GVPH Innovative Approaches team: La’Shanda Person, Nakia Martin-Wright and Shante’ Speed, for their work on this initiative!

The Granville Vance IA site receives $5,000 as a Child Health Award winner and will utilize the funds to enhance collaboration with pediatric dental practices.

The LTSAE Amazing Me, It’s Busy Being 3! book highlights tooth brushing as an age 2 independent milestone.  Pediatric dental practices will be targeted for collaboration and distribution of LTSAE materials and resource bags.  The resource bags will contain a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, info about dental health/hygiene, and information to connect families to needed resources regarding developmental delay concerns.  This work will advance the IA goal that all children get a regular preventive medical and a preventive dental visit.
